Managing vehicles and assigning costs

In Vehicle Management, you can create vehicles, routing profiles, cost profiles, wage profiles and price models.

Note: You will only be able to access this use case if you have been assigned the appropriate rights in the administration tool.

Vehicles

Every vehicle is assigned a routing profile and optionally, a cost profile, wage profile and a pricing model.

  • Properties which influence the route calculation are defined in the routing profile.

You will find background information on the routing profile in the article What is a routing profile?

  • You can use the wage profile to assign the vehicle a driver with the corresponding hourly rate.

  • The costs of a trip are calculated using the cost profile and the wage profile assigned to the vehicle.

  • You can use the pricing model to calculate additional costs which may be incurred.

TLNplanner internet already contains several reference vehicles which have been created for different vehicle modes.

Note: Please note that you can only edit default reference vehicles to a limited extent. Routes should be comparable by reference vehicles, for example, between different companies. Changes which influence the route calculation are therefore not possible.

More information can be found in the article Creating vehicles.

Routing profile

Properties which influence the route calculation are defined in the routing profile.

If you create a vehicle, you can assign it one of the default reference routing profiles. Alternatively, you can create your own routing profiles and assign them to a vehicle.

Note: You cannot change the default routing profiles Car, Van and Truck.

More information can be found in the articles Creating routing profile and What is a routing profile??

Cost profile

In the cost profile you enter the variable and fixed costs which are relevant for route calculation.

More information can be found in the article Create cost profile

Tip: By default, all costs are displayed in the list to three decimal places. You can change the number of decimal places by clicking one of the column headings.

Wage profile

In the wage profile you enter the country in which the driver is employed, the hourly wage that they receive and the times to which costs apply. The information is relevant for cost calculation and calculation of the minimum wage for cross-border transports.

More information can be found in the article Create wage profile.

Pricing models

You can determine cost surcharges with a pricing model in order to better calculate quotations, for example. The cost surcharges can be calculated using a price list and/or a tariff zone model. In addition, you can specify the freight cost surcharges per stop-off point. The cost surcharges are displayed as a result of the route calculation.
