Create database
Note: Please note that a newly created database is immediately visible to all users.
You can create a new database by:
- Creating an empty database
- Importing an existing database
Create empty database
You can use this function to create an empty table with a specified structure.

Open the Data Manager (see Opening Data Manager). ).

Click on New Database < Create empty database on the toolbar above the table.
Tip: Alternatively, you can call up the function on the toolbar > Quick access section > New database > Create empty database.

Type a name for the database.

Confirm your entries with OK.
An empty table with the following fields is created:
ID, Country, Postcode, Street,Town, District, Description, Coordinates.
If a database is empty, the addresses are geocoded using the location data. You can change this specification (see Editing the geographic details). You can also retrospectively amend the structure of the table, e.g. by adding new fields or changing field types (see Changing the data structure).
Importing address file
A database is created using a wizard, with which you import a text file in CSV format and geocode the addresses, i.e. assign the address to a position on the map.

If you wish to test the import with an example file, please download the following file: DataImport.txt.
Note: To do this, right-click on the link specified above and save the file on your hard drive.

Open the Data Manager (see Opening Data Manager). ).

Click on New Database on the toolbar above the table.
Tip: Alternatively, you can call up the function on the toolbar > Quick access area > New database.

Make the desired settings.
General Details tab
In the General Details tab, select the import file and specify how the file is structured (see Database - General Details).
Table Structure tab
In the Table Structure tab you can specify the properties and field type for each imported field (see Database - Table structure).
Representation tab
In the Display tab you can specify how addresses are displayed in the program (see Database - Graphic Display)
Geographic Details tab
In the Geographic Details tab you can specify whether you want your addresses to be geocoded using coordinates or location data (see Database - Geographic Details).
The data are geocoded. A statistic is displayed when geocoding is complete.
If it is not possible for all of the imported addresses to be geocoded, you can post-geocode the data manually or automatically (see Manual post-geocoding of records and Automatic post-geocoding of records).
The structure of databases which have been created can be edited (see Changing the database).
Limitations
Please note that the following limitations apply to the amount of data managed for performance reasons:

In the Data manager you can create and manage a maximum of 5 data sets. Even if you are using multiple licences and work with multiple users in data manager, this number does not increase.

Each data set may contain a maximum of 1,000 records.

Each data set may contain a maximum of 30 columns.

Each csv file that you upload cannot be larger than 5 MB.
Limitations of a test version
If you are using a test version, you are limited to the following:

In Data Manager, a maximum of two data sets can be created and managed.

Each data set may contain a maximum of 50 records.

Each data set may contain a maximum of 30 columns.
-
Each csv file that you upload cannot be larger than 5 MB.
Tip: The Administration tool shows you how many data sets have already been created.
