Which coordinate formats can I import into Data Manager?

A point on a map is always described using a pair of coordinates, the latitude and the longitude.

In TLNplanner internet, addresses can be imported and geocoded using your coordinates.

The following coordinate formats can be used:

  • WGS 84 decimal

Reference system is WGS 84 (World Geodetic System).

The coordinates are specified in decimal degrees,

    e.g. Haid-und-Neu-Straße 15, 76131 Karlsruhe

        Latitude 49.01334° (N)   Longitude 8.4278° (E)

    Information in the import file

    X coordinate (longitude): 8.4278

    Y coordinate (latitude): 49.01334

  • PTV geodecimal

    Equals the WGS 84 decimal * 100,000

    e.g. Haid-und-Neu-Straße 15, 76131 Karlsruhe

    Latitude 4901334° (N)   Longitude 842780° (E)

    Information in the import file

    X coordinate (longitude): 842780

    Y coordinate (latitude): 4901334

  • PTV Mercator

Reference system is a Mercator projection.

The Mercator format is an internal coordinate format which you can use to replace geographical data in PTV products.

If, for example, you export a database, you receive the coordinates in the Mercator format. You can import data records exported in this way into other PTV products and geocode them on the basis of the coordinates.
